(their traditional boat building wood)

Genus: "Quercus"       Species: "robur" (L.)

An extensive search of the world wide web results in more than one viewpoint in regard to Danish oak. Some sites reported that it was the same as English oak but others said it was separate and alone. It is known as 'Pedunculate oak'.
For the purpose of this website we are more interested in the woods woodworking characteristics such as 'shear factor', 'expansion and contraction', 'resistance to water' or 'resistance to deterioration' from fungus or other externals. Also the workability of the wood and its relationship to boat building are important.

We do not have all this data ...so if YOU have any information about Danish Oak,
please visit our 'Share Your Info' page and pass on some of that knowledge.
